Shanae Govan-Williams is the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She has been a head coach for the last ten years and uses her platform on the basketball court to mentor, motivate, and inspire her student-athletes to embrace the “bigger than basketball” moto. Govan-Williams also a well-known author in the Ark-La-Miss has written and published 4 books. Founder of an area mentoring program “Level UP Empowerment” which targets teenage girls ages 13-17 aiming to guide, build, and inspire them to embrace their identity in Christ! She is a traveling motivational speaker and loves to uplift others. She wants to continue to impact those around her allowing them to know that there’s “Purpose in Adversity”.

Shanae attended Arkansas Tech University, and later transferred to Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. She was a four year collegiate basketball player. During her career she was a 4 year conference champion, Regional champion,  with an Elite 8 appearance during her freshman year, two consecutive appearances in the NCAA Sweet sixteen, and lead her conference during the last season in steals, assists, and assist to turnover ratio. Shanae was also ranked 27th in the nation in steals per game during her last season 2013-2014.  

Shanae received her bachelor's degree in Social Work at Delta State University, Masters of Art in Teaching at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and is currently enrolled in the Ed.D program at Southern Arkansas University to obtain her doctorate in Rural and Diverse Leadership. After graduating with her undergrad, she emerged into a head basketball coach. Shanae's purpose has been tied to the lives of young ladies that she has mentored and coached. She enjoys uplifting, motivating, and encouraging the now generation.

She has evolved into a young ambassador. She was featured in the delta business magazine in 2014 as one of the top minorities in the Mississippi  Delta Region. Govan-Williams has had much success as a basketball coach in her short time of coaching. She was recently nominated as the 4A-8 Coach of the Year and served as an All-Star Coach. She is a motivational speaker and well-known in the southeast Arkansas region, where she has spoken at church Youth day's, Singles' conferences, Juneteenth celebrations, and has conducted basketball camps locally. She previously served as a youth minister at Lee Academy for a nationally wide youth group called WyldLife. 

She desires to continue pursuing  purpose by being an active advocate for future generation z’s, while chasing  destiny through her love for coaching the game of basketball. 

Shanae-Govan Williams is married to her Husband Andrew and they have one son, Nash.
